How A Fintech Company Is Using Crowdfunding To Finance Its IPO

Fundrise is a unique fintech company that filed for an initial public offering. The company serves to solve a unique problem for many investors: how to invest directly in high quality real estate assets without a middleman.

Fundrise's mission statement argues that while real estate is one of the best performing investments over time, those who profit the most are typically institutional investment partners who are in theory nothing but middlemen.

"The idea is simple yet powerful," Fundrise states. "It's caught on because it's a good investment strategy. Fundrise offers the first low-fee diversified real estate investment available directly to anyone online. We make the process of investing in the highest quality commercial real estate from around the country simple, efficient, and transparent."

Fundrise CEO and Co-Founder Ben Miller has more than 15 years of experience in real estate and finance. His prior experience consists of acquiring, developing and financing more than $500 million of property when he served as Managing Partner of WestMill Capital Partners and President of Western Development Corporation.

As noted by Crowdfund Insider, Fundrise is looking to offer two million shares of its Class B common stock at $5 per share. The company is looking to raise at least $1 million and up to $10 million as part of its raise.

Initially, only investors that have already participated in an offer will be eligible to purchase Fundrise's stocks.
