May The Fourth Be With You: 'Star Wars' Movies Have Grossed $3.7 Billion

Fans of the "Star Wars" franchise lucky enough to have watched the first film, "Star Wars: Episode IV — A New Hope," in 1977 likely found it hard to believe the franchise would become a global phenomenon four decades later.

To mark the unofficial Star Wars Day of celebration on Thursday, aptly named May the Fourth Be With You, here is a look at how every film in the franchise performed.

Adjusted for ticket price inflation, every "Star Wars" film grossed a combined $6.602 billion, or $3.73 billion unadjusted.

Some Wall Street analysts are bullish on "Star Wars" current owner, Walt Disney Co DIS, given the franchise's strong popularity that has held the test of time and upcoming slate of movies for years to come.

Here is a compilation of every film, adjusted for inflation, according to Box Office Mojo in order of dollar ranking.
