Ian Gilyeat (www.electiangilyeat.com) announced today that he is running as an independent candidate for the United States Senate representing the people of Arizona. Gilyeat, a long-time resident of Gilbert, Ariz., enters the race on the position that limited government is the only way to protect property, life and individual freedoms.
Gilyeat believes recent decisions in Congress have moved the country toward nationalized healthcare, government bailouts and the takeover of large private companies; these decisions demonstrate that the federal government is encroaching on individual freedoms, personal responsibility and the free exercise of conscience.
“I am seeking office in order to limit government and their constant encroachment into every aspect of our personal and business affairs. Excessive government, from both major parties, has resulted in unsustainable debt, burdensome taxes that choke out jobs and an entitlement culture that favors extortion, bribery and sweetheart deals in our nation’s back rooms,” says Gilyeat. “The federal government has overstepped the boundaries of American freedom and forgotten their constitutional duty to protect property, life and individual freedom. It is time to replace those that have been in Washington too long…those that have compromised American ideals and return to principled leadership - leadership that defends personal responsibility and self-reliance. We must let Americans do what they do best, create jobs, care for their families, and work and serve in their communities."
Gilyeat was raised in the Navy town of Bremerton, Wash., and is the youngest of six children. He heads a management consulting firm, I.R. Gilyeat & Company, and advises firms on company growth strategies through marketing automation and business process improvement.
