Nokia Files Complaint Against Apple (NOK, AAPL)

Nokia NOK filed another complaint with the U.S. trade panel alleging that Apple AAPL has infringed on its patents. Last Friday, a U.S. International Trade Commission judge ruled that Apple did not violate any of the five Nokia patents. According to Reuters, Nokia said it does not agree with the ITC's initial determination. The cell phone industry has experienced several legal battles since Apple and Google GOOG carved out a large chunk of the smartphone market at the expense of older players. Nokia filed a new case today relating to seven patents. These patents are concentrated in the areas of multi-tasking operating systems, data synchronization, positioning, call qualities, and Bluetooth accessory use. Reuters quoted Paul Melin, Nokia's Vice President of Intellectual Property, who said that 46 Nokia patents are in suit against Apple with the latest ITC filing.
