Shares of Worthington Industries Inc WOR gained about 1% after the company reported its Q3 earnings at $26.3 million, or $0.35 per share, versus a loss of $17.7 million, or $0.22 per share, in the year-earlier period. The company's sales increased to $569.4 million from $451.1 million. However, analysts were expecting earnings of $0.26 per share on sales of $579.5 million.
Treasury prices gained and the US dollar remained lower after US first-time jobless claims dropped to 388,000 in the latest week. Yields on 10-year notes dropped 2 basis points to 3.43%. The dollar index (DXY) fell 0.24% to 75.93, versus 76.091 in late North American trading on Wednesday. Against the dollar, the euro gained 0.3114% to $1.4172, versus $1.4128 Wednesday.
Shares of Rite Aid Corp RAD dropped about 1.8% after the company reported 0.1% y/y decline in its March sales at stores open at least one year. RAD's front end same-store sales dropped 1.8%. The company's pharmacy same-store sales rose 0.8%. RAD's total drugstore sales for the four-week period ended March 26 declined 1% y/y to $1.95 billion.
