M&A Round-Up For Q1 2011 (JPM, GS, MS, CS, DB, T)

According to a press release from mergermarket, global mergers and acquisitions were up 28.9% in Q1 2011, compared to the year ago period. Deal value came in at $591 billion. U.S. M&A volume was up 85.1% to versus Q1 2010. Total deal value came in at $268.4 billion. The top global financial adviser by total deal value was J.P. Morgan JPM, for the first time since Q1 2004. J.P. Morgan also led the league tables in the United States. The leading sector for M&A was Energy, Mining & Utilities with a total deal of $155.8 billion, up 49.7% versus the year ago period. The top deal for the quarter was AT&T's T takeover of T-Mobile. Coming in behing J.P. Morgan in the Global M&A league tables for the first quarter were Morgan Stanley MS and Goldman Sachs GS, respectively. In the four and five slots were Credit Suisse CS and Deutsche Bank DB.
