BJ's Wholesale Club March Sales Down 5.3%

BJ's Wholesale Club, Inc. BJ today reported that sales for March 2011 increased by 9.1% to $1.08 billion from $992.7 million in March 2010. Comparable club sales for March 2011 increased by 5.3%, including a contribution from sales of gasoline of 4.0%. Excluding the impact of gasoline, merchandise comparable club sales increased by approximately 1.3%. A calendar shift in the timing of Easter had a negative impact on merchandise comparable club sales of approximately 2%.
