Shares of Monsanto Company MON continue to get hit hard, down over 6% today, after the company announced its 2010 earnings would be at the lower end of the range it provided.
The St. Louis-based company expects to earn between $2.40 per share and $2.45 per share for its 2010 fiscal year, which ends Tuesday.
The prior expected range was $2.40 to $2.60 per share. Analysts had expected earnings to be $2.49 per share.
In addition to lowering its earnings outlook, the maker of Roundup herbicide, also said it was cutting 650-700 jobs, and would take a $150 million restructuring charge as a result of the cuts.
Shares are currently are at their worst levels of the day, down $3.88 to $52.02
