WASHINGTON — The Trump administration’s Food and Drug Administration transition team is taking shape, with a former adviser to ex-Commissioner Stephen Hahn and a top executive of a communications firm that has worked with Trump’s FDA commissioner pick Marty Makary. The team is in conversations with a top Capitol Hill aide about a key role at the agency.
Lowell Zeta, who served as a senior counselor to Hahn from 2020 to 2021, is assisting with outreach and recruiting efforts for the FDA transition, three sources familiar with the efforts said. The sources were granted anonymity to discuss sensitive hiring discussions.
Zeta is a partner at the law firm Hogan Lovells, and the firm touts his “experience at the highest levels of the FDA and regulatory practice” on its website. Zeta was responsible for the FDA’s 2020 initiative to evaluate its Covid-19 response and better prepare to respond to future pandemics.
