Binance founder and ex-CEO Changpeng ‘CZ' Zhao has denounced TST meme coin listing on Binance, confirming he does not endorse it. He also criticized Binance's listing process, calling it a "bit broken."

Test (TST) is a meme coin sensation created from a BNB Chain tutorial, which soon touched a market cap of over $35 million before crashing down. The token ended up listing on Binance on Sunday.

CZ addressed his followers on X noting that he has no clue how TST got listed on the largest exchange.

"I don't know for sure. I am entirely NOT involved in their listing process," he wrote, adding that TST is "not endorsed" by me/us. "It was just a test token used in a video tutorial."

He answered several questions, including stressing that he has always focused on "fundamentals" and doesn't shift away.

He also told users to work on their project and not exchanges, while answering a fan query on why some tokens held by users are not listed, unlike TST.

Further, CZ said that Binance sometimes announces listing of a token, but lists 4 hours later. "The notice period is necessary, but in those 4 hours, the token prices go high on DEXes, and then people sell on CEX."

"Not sure if there is a solution for this though. Just beware," he added.

In a separate post, the founder informed the community that TST has got its own website and an X account. He emphasized that the website is "neither made or controlled by BNB Chain or any Binance-related team."

Additionally, he slammed the creators of the meme coin for using Binance's logo without permission.

"This is infringement, it needs to be changed," his translated post read, adding a warning note to community members.

CZ Doesn't Hold Meme Coins or NFTs

CZ confessed that he isn't a meme coin expert, making clear that he is not "into" or against any meme coins.

"I haven't bought a single meme coin so far. Not being into something doesn't mean I'm against it," he wrote. He further emphasized that he hasn't bought any non-fungible tokens (NFTs) so far, nor altcoins.

He currently holds Bitcoin (BTC) and Binance Coin (BNB), and is not against any altcoins or meme coins.

"I think most of you'd agree, that I have worked hard and ‘gone to some lengths' to help many altcoins and the crypto industry in general. I adopt the same view towards meme coins."

That said, CZ also confirmed that like all meme coin, he "never bought or owned TST."

In November 2024, CZ advised blockchain developers to give priority to utility-based projects. He criticized that meme coins are becoming "a little weird," emphasizing the need for "real applications" that provide value.
