Is Made In The USa Going To Make A Comeback? (CAT, GE, NCR)

According to a study obtained by Reuters, "Made in the USA" may be coming back, and in a big way. As the yuan rises, and the dollar falls, a report by the Boston Consulting Group (BCG) predicts that more companies will begin to make their products in the U.S., to become more competitive globally. The study already pointed out a few examples. Caterpillar Inc CAT has added capacity in its Texas, Arkansas and Illinois plants to build excavators. NCR Corp NCR, the maker of ATM's and kiosks, has created 870 jobs in Georgia by manufacturing the machines there. "If you work the math out using today's numbers. you'd still say it's a good idea to go to China," said Hal Sirkin, a senior BCG partner and lead author of the study. "(But) around 2015, you get to a point of indifference between producing in the U.S. and producing in China." General Electric Co's GE is also a prime example of this, as the company is in the middle of a four-year, $600 million plan to build up its manufacturing presence in Louisville, Kentucky, for its appliance unit. The company says it will add around 830 new jobs.
