April ETF Stats Part I

The exchange traded products business notched another solid month of inflows in April with total assets under management at U.S.-listed ETFs and ETNs rising to $1.14 trillion from $1.06 trillion at the end of March, according to data provided by the National Stock Exchange. That's an increase of approximately 34% over April 2010 month-end when assets totaled almost $847 billion, NSX said in a statement. Product listings topped 1,200 for the first with 1,216 exchange traded products now available to U.S. investors compared with less than 1,000 in April 2010. Net inflows in April totaled $22.4 billion. Year-to-date net cash inflows reached a record $51.3 billion, an increase of approximately 140% over the same time period in 2010 when net cash flows reached $21.3 billion, NSX said. ETF and ETN notional trading volume reached $1.3 trillion last month, accounting for almost 28% of all U.S. equity trading volume. With a combined 375 funds and over $900 billion in AUM between them, BlackRock BLK, State Street's STT SSgA and Vanguard remain the three largest U.S. ETF issuers.
