Last year was a good year for global equity crowdfunding platform OurCrowd. They had two IPOs, seven acquisitions and closed a $72 million Series C funding round (which Benzinga wrote about in September).
The Israel-based startup is now gearing up to host the third annual OurCrowd Global Investor Summit, where venture capitalists from around the world will gather to discuss the changing industries of business and finance.
Summit's Strategy
“The goal of the summit is for the crowd to discover actionable investing ideas, hear from global industry leaders on how they’re driving their businesses, and to swap ideas with some of the world’s leading entrepreneurs,” OurCrowd CEO Jon Medved said. “The innovators and global industry leaders behind the tech can meet and interact with some of the biggest venture capital investors in the market and have the chance to pitch and test their cutting-edge ideas.”
Last year’s event hosted over 3,000 attendees and 100 global ventures and corporate partners from 50 different countries. OurCrowd also partnered with Bank Hapoalim to hold a seed stage startup competition that awarded a $50,000 prize to the winner.
2017's Summit
Titled “The Future Is Here,” this year’s summit will feature a lineup of senior executives from global corporations who will discuss cutting-edge technologies changing the way business works. Participants will also engage in a real-time crowd investing hackathon.
Leadership expects an attendance of up to 5,000 at the February 16 summit in Jerusalem, including tech investors, industry leaders, venture partners, entrepreneurs and global delegations.
OurCrowd enables individuals to pool their resources to invest with larger impact. According to the website, community membership is offered only to those who meet “stringent accreditation criteria.” Accepted investors can contribute a minimum of $10,000 to chosen startups or proposals.
So far, more than 15,000 OurCrowd investors worldwide have contributed over $320 million to 100 companies and funds.
The platform, which is managed by investment professionals, not only invests in companies, but it provides post-investment support by offering expert advising and filling board seats.
