AlphaSense Is Helping Investment Managers Act With Greater Insight

For this installment, we spoke with Julie Craig, vice president of marketing, from AlphaSense.

What does your company do? What unique problem does it solve?

We apply cutting edge technology to help investment managers find critical information and act with greater insight.

AlphaSense uses a blend of machine learning, advanced linguistic search and natural language processing algorithms to enable our users to search, navigate, set alerts and analyze filings, research, news and other disclosures for critical data points that others are missing — with unprecedented speed and accuracy.

Who are your customers?

Investment managers.

How long have you been in business?

AlphaSense was founded in 2008 and launched the platform in 2010.

Where are you located?

AlphaSense headquarters are in San Francisco, although we have offices globally, including Boston, New York, Helsinki and London.

Who is your company's leadership? What kind of experience do they have?

AlphaSense was founded by Jack Kokko, CEO, and Raj Neervannan, chief technology officer.

Kokko is a visionary entrepreneur with a background in global financial services and a track record of delivering enabling technologies to demanding markets. Previously, he was the founding CEO of Silecs and a senior analyst with Morgan Stanley. He holds a Wharton MBA and a MSc. degree in engineering.

Neervannan is an experienced software entrepreneur with more than 15 years of technology and management experience across a number of industries. Previously, he was CTO at the ePolicy Division of Choicepoint. He holds a Wharton MBA and Master's degree in Mathematics and Computer Science.
