TD Ameritrade To Lower Trading Commission Fees

TD Ameritrade Holding Corp. AMTD announced Tuesday that it would lower commission fees for online equities and ETFs from $9.99 per trade to $6.95. The firm also announced it would lower options trading pricing to $6.95 with an additional fee of $0.75 per contract. The pricing changes will be effective as of March 6, 2017.

TD Ameritrade CEO Tim Hockey noted in a press release the company is focused on improving the trading experience for its clients in several aspects, and that the change in pricing reflects that.

“[Our clients] have told us time and again that value is delivered via rich experiences that prioritize flexibility and client choice, coupled with a simple, straightforward price,” Hockey said. “Outstanding trading platforms, innovative tools, a broad product selection, education and 1:1 support, investment guidance and advice—these are the things by which our clients are measuring the quality of their experience with us.”
