For this installment, we spoke to Bizfi CEO John Donovan (answers have been edited for length and clarity).

What does your company do? What unique problem does it solve?

Bizfi is the premier fintech company combining aggregation, funding and a marketplace on a single platform for small businesses. Bizfi’s connected marketplace instantly provides multiple funding options and real-time pre-approvals to businesses from a wide variety of funding partners.

Bizfi’s funding options include short-term financing, franchise financing, lines of credit, equipment financing, medical financing, invoice financing, medium-and long-term loans guaranteed by the U.S. Small Business Administration.

The Bizfi API provides a turnkey white label or co-branded solution that easily allows strategic partners to access the Bizfi engine and present their clients with financial offers from Bizfi lenders all while maintaining their customer's user experience. A process that once took hours now takes minutes.

Who are your customers? How long have you been in business?

Founded in 2005, Bizfi and its family of companies have provided an excess of $2 billion in financing to more than 35,000 small businesses in a wide variety of industries across the United States.

Who is your company’s leadership? What kind of experience do they have?

John Donovan, CEO of Bizfi:

Donovan has more than 25 years of financial technology experience building companies and launching products within organizations. Over the course of his career, Donovan helped pave the way for the development of the fintech and alternative finance industry with Mastercard Inc (NYSE: ) and formed part of the founding team of LendingClub Corp (NYSE: ) from 2007 through August 2012.

Stephen Sheinbaum, Founder of Bizfi:

Sheinbaum founded Bizfi in 2005 and since then has grown the company from a single employee entity doing a handful of deals a month to its present status as one of the nation’s leading alternative finance companies. He has authored several articles that have appeared in a variety of national publications and he has spoken on numerous industry panels.

Bizfi has a partnership with Western Independent Bankers (WIB), a trade association that markets to over 600 community and regional banks. Bizfi’s connected marketplace instantly provides a diverse selection of financial products and real-time pre-approvals with options ranging from short- to medium-term financing, medical financing, lines of credit, equipment financing, franchise financing and invoice financing. Bizfi’s platform includes 15 fully integrated partners including On Deck Capital Inc ONDK, Funding Circle, Kabbage, Bluevine, Fundbox and Credibly, as well as more than 30 non-integrated partners.
