Benzinga will be holding its annual Benzinga Global Fintech Awards, a day of dealmaking, networking, and recognition in the financial technology space, on Nov. 10, 2020.
In recognition of those disruptive innovators creating positive and diverse change within the financial services space, Benzinga sat down with Warwick Gorman, head of marketing and PR at OptionsSwing.
About OptionsSwing
Some view the markets as a way to get rich quickly, while others treat it as a career.
Within those two broad categories is a subset of participants that want to take some sort of active and educated approach, but lack the know-how. This group often looks to alert service providers that fail to help participants understand the mechanics behind a winning trading.
Enter, OptionsSwing, an investment research and analysis mentorship service. In the simplest way possible: OptionsSwing is a member-only Discord server.
“A lot of other companies in our space focus on call outs where they basically provide fish for people,” said Gorman. “We’re a lot more focused on trying to teach people how to fish, and I think our emphasis on education really sets us apart from everybody else.”
Core Product Portfolio
Initially, OptionsSwing’s founder Jason Lee, after earning nearly $400,000 his best year trading part time, was providing free education on social media sites like Instagram, but privatized his insights after some encouragement from friends.
“The membership service started where people paid to be part of our Discord community where we have different option flow tools, earning analyses, and all sorts of other stuff that helps people understand technical and fundamental analysis.”
After being founded in 2019, the company has grown to 2,000 members and 15 full-time employees.
“We've had some awesome success stories. Most notably, a member found us through Instagram and after applying concepts learned from OptionSwing, made their first $100,000 and used that as a downpayment on a house,” said Gorman. “While that's not the norm, every week we're hearing new stories about our members' successes.”
The company’s core product portfolio consists of the following products:
- Premium Trading Group: Analyses, watchlists, education, alerts, and challenges.
- Five Days Of Growth: Series of beginner to advanced trading mentorship courses.
“We have a live trading floor where people can basically chat regarding different things they see in the market -- whether that’s news or support and resistances being broken,” Gorman noted.
“Every day of the week, we also do a live webinar with one of our educators. He does a pre-market update, he’ll break down different companies -- he goes into their balance sheet and the technicals -- and he talks about what he thinks may or may not be happening in the future for the company.”
Innovation Outlook
“We plan to continue growing the company in the way it has been, and we plan on adding different educational products, whether that’s more advanced or hands on coaching.”
OptionsSwing is currently in the process of publishing an ebook, as well as launching classroom-style, in-person education events. According to Gorman, the initiatives are targeted at breaking down tough concepts, like properly valuing a company or trading different options strategies.
