Monique Le’s Insights Last week, BlackRock launched target-date ETFs mainly to act as self-directed retirement savers for all the 57 million Americans who do not have access to a workplace plan. Monique Le adds that BlackRock also sees the offering as being part of a wider market drive toward self-directed investing.
She continues that BlockRock’s approach is a two-way one where one is to work with digital brokerages and enhance its own brand through marketing. The second is to educate investors on the benefits of a target-date ETF, including tax efficiencies, simplicity, and affordability.
Currently, BlackRock accounts for more than $3 trillion in assets under management in ETFs globally across a lineup of 1,300 ETFs. Around 35 million investors use iShares ETFs.
