Elon Musk Announces AI-Based 'See Similar Posts' Feature For X, Possible Plans For Another Change

Zinger Key Points
  • Elon Musk announces a new feature for X called the “See Similar Posts."
  • Musk’s response to a user’s tweet indicates that some more new features are underway.

Tesla Inc CEO and X owner Elon Musk participated at the AI Safety Summit in the U.K. on Thursday.

A one-on-one discussion between U.K. Prime Minister Rishi Sunak and Musk was also live-streamed on X, formerly known as Twitter, to discuss all aspects of global growth and AI technology.

Musk was also busy on X introducing a new feature.

Industry titans BlackRock, DTCC, OCC, State Street, Société Générale, Hedera, Citi, BMO, Northern Trust, Citibank, Amazon, S&P Global, Google, Invesco, and Moody’s will join Benzinga on Nov. 13 for Fintech Deal Day and Nov. 14 for the Future of Digital Assets. Secure a spot here to join them.

What Happened: Musk went on X to announce the “See Similar Posts” feature for the platform, writing, “AI-based 'See similar' posts feature is rolling out now.”

This enables users to view similar posts based on their searches and recommended posts on the platform. Users reacted — positive and negative — with numerous tweets and hashtags speaking about the new feature.

X user Kim Martin tweeted and appealed to Musk that there should also be a “See Dissimilar Posts” feature which could expand users' viewpoints beyond a particular topic, helping provide a better and wider vision regarding information shared on the X platform.

Notably, Musk responded to the tweet saying, “That’s coming soon.”

Why It Matters: The new feature added to the multiple changes the platform had seen in the past year such as excluding the blue tick, changing the Twitter name and logo and introducing subscriptions. Most recently, it also changed revenue terms for content creators and announced an audio and video calling feature.

"See Similar Posts" could also be considered as part of the social media company’s plan to make X, an “everything app.”

The U.K. summit also saw the announcement by Musk of xAI to launch its first AI model on Nov.4 to a select group of people. Providing no details, he claimed it to be the best AI model in certain important aspects.

The news comes on the heels of Benzinga’s Future Of Digital Assets Event in New York scheduled on Nov.14.
