Stocks Rally After Opening Plunge (DJI, SPX, JPM, GS)

Stocks have pared losses after falling at the open. The Dow Jones Industrial Average (DJI) is up 81 points, or 0.81%, to 10,150. The blue chip index had dipped below the 10,000 level shortly after the opening before it began a steady ascent higher. Today's move comes after yesterday's dramatic plunge that saw the Dow shed 376 points, it's worst loss in over a year. Fears over financial regulation and European sovereign debt defaults helped send the equity markets into a tailspin yesterday. The Standard & Poor's 500 (SPX) is up 14.52 points, or 1.36%, to 1,086.12. Financials are leading the rally today, with JP Morgan JPM adding more than 5% and Goldman Sachs GS adding 4.8%.
