Year-To-Date Performance Of Some Key Stocks (GOOG, JPM, WMT, XOM)

As the markets continue to sink lower in 2010, I thought I'd take a look at how some bellweather names have performed thus far. To get a broad overview I looked at a tech giant, a financial giant, a mammoth retailer, and the world's largest energy company. Needless to say, it has not been a pretty 2010 for any of these companies. Google GOOG is down 23.14 percent year-to-date. JP Morgan JPM is down 9.99 percent year-to-date. Wal-Mart AMT is down 6.14 percent year-to-date. Exxon Mobil XOM is down 14.39 percent year-to-date. Overall, the Dow is down 5.07 percent in 2010. Despite solid earnings from all four of these companies in the first quarter, shareholders have yet to see gains this year. Perhaps the second half of the year will be more shareholder-friendly.
