Visa Getting Hammered Again (V, MA)

Shares of Visa V are down sharply once again today on very heavy volume. Shares are down $1.69, or 2.47%, to $66.86. The stock is just barely above its 52-week low of $66.54. More than 5.9 million shares have already traded versus the three-month daily average of 6.5 million. Both Visa and MasterCard MA face uncertainty as the Federal Reserve begins crafting new rules for debit card fees called for in the financial reform legislation. However, Visa has more debit risk than MasterCard because it dominates the U.S. market. MasterCard shares are slightly higher on the day by 10 cents, or 0.05%, to $194.50.
