The best golfers in the world will tee off Thursday at Oak Hill Country Club in Rochester, New York for the PGA Championship, one of golf’s most coveted trophies and one of the four majors of the year. Both PGA and LIV golfers will compete in the tournament.
Scottie Scheffler is the favorite to win at +700, followed by Jon Rahm at +750 and Rory McIlroy at +1600 according to DraftKings Inc DKNG. Many sites like DraftKings Inc DKNG, as well as Barstool Sports Book/PENN Entertainment Inc PENN, are offering special prop bets for the PGA Championship such as “Will There Be A Hole In One In Round 1” and “Will The Tournament Go To A Playoff.”
A month or so ago at the Masters, many LIV golfers were in contention such as Brooks Koepka and Phil Mickelson who made a big comeback on Sunday. The PGA Championship could be similar, with Koepka and Cam Smith from the LIV Tour playing strong golf recently.
Koepka has had success in PGA Championships before, winning back-to-back in 2018 and 2019. Joe Idone, the host of Preferred Lines, a golf-betting podcast, picked both Koepka and Smith as outright winners of the PGA Championship. Koepka’s odds are 22-1 while Smith’s are 38-1.
Idone also likes Gary Woodland at 180-1 and Justin Rose at 150-1 as long shots for the tournament.
Just a couple of years ago in 2021, Mickelson won the PGA Championship, becoming the oldest player to win the tournament. Before play started, Mickelson was listed at more than 200-1. This means that if you placed a $100 bet on Mickelson to win before the tournament started, you would have likely won more than $20,000.
