  • Apex Fintech Solutions is launching 24/5 trading capabilities for its clients.
  • The move is part of a trend driven by the surge in new investors during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Apex Fintech Solutions, a financial technology company that helps power other platforms, announced it would be launching 24/5 trading capabilities for its clients. The move follows Robinhood and other brokerages that have extended trading hours for retail traders in the past few months.

Back in the day, retail investors and day traders were only able to trade during market hours from 9:30 am ET to 4 pm ET. Then, in 1991, the New York Stock Exchange introduced after-market trading in an effort to bring in more trading activity from oversea investors based in places like Tokyo and London.

But now, through companies like Apex, retail investors and day traders have more access to trading and information than ever before. A boom in new investors throughout the COVID-19 pandemic pushed platforms to entice potential customers with more access and features than competitors. More and more brokerages are offering extended-hours trading and access to margin.

“Here at Apex, our mission is to bring frictionless investing to everyone. Prior to this, investors were limited by US East Coast market hours. Now, no matter where you sit around the world, you have the opportunity to trade in your timezone,” said Bill Capuzzi, CEO at Apex Fintech Solutions. “This is just one step in the development of a market structure that will better democratize access to investing worldwide,” he added.

The move by Apex follows Robinhood Markets Inc HOOD extending trading hours earlier this year, allowing customers to trade from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. ET.
