MrBeast Moves On From Longtime Talent Agency, Report Says: Why YouTube Star Could Be Changing Things Up

Zinger Key Points
  • MrBeast is one of the most successful YouTube content creators of all time.
  • MrBeast is parting ways from his exclusive talent management company.

YouTube star MrBeast is venturing into new areas outside content creation, and making a change with his management company.

What Happened: According to a report from Semafor, Jimmy Donaldson — known as MrBeast — is parting ways with Night Media, his current talent management company.

Semafor’s unnamed sources say the company could continue working with MrBeast, but not in an exclusive nature.

Donaldson is looking to have increased control over his business, which brings in an estimated $600 million in annual revenue.

Donaldson has been working with Night founder Reed Duchscher since February 2018.

Duchscher was tasked with taking over the Feastables candy bar company started by Donaldson last year.

Night represents several other prominent YouTubers and podcasters outside of MrBeast.

MrBeast has over 250 million subscribers on YouTube, the video content platform owned by Alphabet Inc GOOGGOOGL.

Known for his giveaways, contests, and unique challenge videos, MrBeast has amassed a large following that also saw him become highly sought after by internet talent agencies.

Why It's Important: The break from Night Media could be for several reasons, including Donaldson wanting to have more personal control on his business lines.

Reports also say that rifts between Donaldson and Duchscher include a decision for Night Media to operate his management company independently and not wanting to move to Greenville, North Carolina, where MrBeast is headquartered.

The parting of ways also comes as the MrBeast Burger brand faces an ongoing legal dispute with the ghost kitchen firm it licensed the brand out to.

MrBeast is likely to do as much management on his own based on the move and sources, while he could also hire out talent agencies on a non-exclusive basis.

The move by MrBeast comes as he landed a game show deal with Amazon.com Inc‘s AMZN Prime Video.

"Beast Games" is set to premiere on Prime Video in the future with 1,000+ contestants and a $5 million prize.

"Big news gamers I'm going to be filming the largest game show in history and releasing it on Prime Video! Over 1,000 contestants, $5,00,000 prize, and many other world records," MrBeast said previously.

In an appearance on a podcast, MrBeast said Amazon was giving him "the mot creative control."

"Other platforms didn't. There's a reason we went with Amazon."

The new show on Amazon could expand MrBeast's audience by attracting new fans. It also increases the likelihood of requests for brand partnerships and product launches.
