Avicanna Inc. AVCN AVCNF 0NN said Wednesday its RHO Phyto products will be distributed to Canadian retailers in early 2021.
The Toronto-based company is expanding its outreach following the launch of Rho Phyto medical cannabis and Pura Earth CBD derma-cosmetic product lines in medical-only channels via a distribution deal with Shoppers Drug Mart Inc.'s subsidiary Medical Cannabis by Shoppers.
RHO Phyto products will include sublingual sprays, oil drops and topical.
The company said it opted for the move to allow consumers "with low barrier access to the same industry-leading formulary of medical cannabis products."
As per the 2020 Canadian Cannabis Survey, 76% of those using medical cannabis don't have a doctor's prescription.
The move came on the heels of the company's recent expansion into Ecuador.
Avicanna disclosed it has partnered with Alliancepharma Technologies to import and distribute its pharmaceutical cannabinoid-based products into the country. The company also signed a deal with an Ecuadorian cosmetic distributor, Spenta, to distribute its Pura Earth derma-cosmetic product line.
