Zinger Key Points
  • An ask me anything on social media saw Mark Cuban answer questions on key topics like immigration and gun rights.
  • Cuban was also asked about some fun topics like how much he sleeps, his favorite potato style and what he thinks of memes.

In a January 2024 ‘Ask Me Anything’ (AMA) session, entrepreneur and NBA team owner Mark Cuban addressed a wide range of topics, including sports, investments, career advice, and navigating the world of social media.

Questions also came in outside the world of investing and sports, with some of the highlights below.

Cuban's Favorite Word: In a previous interview with Wired, the entrepreneur said he's not a fan of business lingo.

Cuban said he was not a fan of jargon, or people trying to use words to try to sound smart.

"Always use the simpler word," Cuban said. "There's no reason to ever use the word ‘cohort' when you could use the word ‘group.'"

In the AMA session, Cuban was asked to reveal his favorite word, and the result might be surprising.

"Dad. Every time my kids say it, it makes my day."

Cuban's Morning Routine: Cuban replied to a question about his morning routine that he tries to sleep as much as he can, getting around six to seven hours of sleep every night.

Cuban’s morning routine could also offer insight into his personal definition of success. "Waking up with a smile on my face excited for the day,' Cuban said.

Cuban on Gun Rights, Immigration: Along with fun questions about his sleeping habits, the Dallas Mavericks and what his favorite type of potatoes are (au gratin if you're wondering), Cuban was also asked about key topics like gun rights and immigration.

Cuban said he supports gun rights and the Second Amendment.

"They are intrinsic to the USA. And what you have or do on your own property or a range or ranch is up to you. But if you take them outside of those location, I think we need them to be registered and training required," Cuban said.

Posing a more challenging question, a user inquired about Cuban’s stance on the open border policy and immigration during the AMA.

"First issue is that we need immigration, but we have no idea how many non h1b immigrants we need. I would allow cities/towns/companies to tell us what they need and work backwards from there. I think asylum is really hard to manage as a gateway to the country."

Cuban on Memes: Cuban is fairly active on social media, with a following of 8.8 million on X, formerly known as Twitter.

As more people use memes on social media, Cuban was asked if they are a form of art.

"Yes," Cuban replied.
