Zinger Key Points

Fans who anxiously waited for the presale for Taylor Swift’s upcoming tour, were met with Ticketmaster’s site being down just before the presale began. DownDetector showed a surge in reports just after 8 a.m. EST on Tuesday.

What Happened: "We are currently experiencing technical difficulties and our team is working to resolve this as soon as possible," a message on the website read. "We apologize for this inconvenience and appreciate your patience."

In a follow-up message posted to Twitter on Tuesday afternoon, Ticketmaster praised Swift's supporters for their patience and acknowledged the historically unparalleled demand for tour tickets.

Customers who were still in the virtual line were informed that it was moving along and to hold tight — one Benzinga employee waited six hours.

Scalpers Enter: Within hours of the queue opening Tuesday, tickets for the concert at Levi's Stadium began to appear on the Gametime resale site, with some going for nearly $21,000.

Tickets for the general public go on sale Friday, at 10 a.m EST.

Political Complaints: Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez tweeted that the 2010 merger between Ticketmaster, and Live Nation Entertainment Inc. LYV, shouldn't have been permitted to take place, calling the merger a monopoly.

Price Action: Shares of Live Nation gained 0.09% Tuesday to $74.28, according to data from Benzinga Pro.
