Former Fox News television host Tucker Carlson has barely been out of work for 24 hours, and at least one person appears to be nudging the conservative media personality to run in the 2024 presidential election.
Ohio-born Republican presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy believes Carlson would be “good for the country,” calling him "one of the smartest voices in the conservative movement," according to a report.
The news prompted travel writer and political consultant Stuart Stevens to take to Twitter to write a sarcastic list of other qualities he sees in Carlson that he says make him “the ideal GOP candidate.”
Stevens, who opposed former President Donald Trump’s candidacy in the 2016 and 2020 elections, listed eight reasons, stating that he “assumes Tucker Carlson will run for POTUS,” seemingly comparing Fox’s former top anchor to Trump.
Stevens’ first reason for Carlson being “a natural” to become a Republican presidential candidate is that he’s white.
Carlson’s “inherited wealth” was Stevens’ second reason. Carlson inherited millions as a result of his father’s marriage to Patricia Swanson, whose family sold Swanson-branded food to Campbell in 1955. Trump, meanwhile, inherited hundreds of millions from his father’s real estate empire.
Stevens also wrote that Carlson’s hatred of women and his “obsession with sexual orientation of others” make him a good fit for becoming a GOP presidential candidate. Steven's statement is related to some of Carlson’s on-air comments.
During his term, Trump appointed multiple judges to various courts who hold anti-LGTBQ views. The 45th president was also elected despite a video being released showing Trump making obscene and derogatory comments about women.
The campaign manager, who was Mitt Romney's chief campaign strategist during his 2008 presidential bid, said Carlson’s "pathological" lying also makes him a good fit.
Additionally, Stevens wrote that Carlson’s admiration for Russian President Vladimir Putin makes him a probable candidate. Both Trump and Carlson have shown an affinity for Putin in public remarks.
