Watch: Lucid Air Grand Touring Performance Obliterates GM Corvette C8 Z06 In Epic Drag Race

Popular YouTube channel Auto Trader posted a video on Tuesday putting Lucid Group Inc‘s LCID Air Grand Touring Performance against General MotorsGM Chevrolet Corvette C8 Z06.

What Happened: The Z06 was “obliterated” by the Grand Touring Performance at the Willow Springs raceway in the drag and rolling races. While television presenter Rory Reid drove the Lucid car, the Corvette was driven by racing driver Jesse Iwuji.

However, the Z06 won in the brake test by stopping roughly 7 yards before the Lucid vehicle.

Both vehicles can accelerate from 0-60 mph in 2.6 seconds. But the Lucid comes with 1050 hp as opposed to the Corvette’s 670 hp and a torque of 1200 nm compared to the Corvette’s 624 nm. These factors give the Lucid a definite edge over the Corvette despite its heavier body weighing 2,100 kg.

Why It Matters: Despite its achievements at the race, Lucid Air Grand Touring Performance is priced way higher at about $179,000 than Corvette’s starting price of $105,300. Furthermore, the Corvette is a combustion engine car, unlike the Lucid, a battery-electric vehicle.

The video has reaped over 83,000 views on YouTube thus far.
