Taylor Swift’s “Eras Tour” is poised to break multiple records from earnings to attendee numbers, Newsweek reports.
Swift’s recently added 15 more U.S. dates to her tour list, bringing the total to 146 concerts and set to conclude in August 2024. She had originally announced 52 shows.
Industry experts predict the tour, which began on Mar. 17, will surpass Elton John’s record, potentially earning over $1 billion. Publications like The Wall Street Journal and Fortune have highlighted the tour’s significant economic impact.
In 2022, Billboard estimated the tour’s gross at $590 million. With added shows, projections now reach approximately $1.4 billion, as per concert data tracker, Pollstar.
Swift’s tour also impacts local economies.
“Hosting a three-day Taylor Swift concert in downtown Indianapolis has the potential to be an economic game changer,” said Adam Burtner of the Greater Indianapolis Chamber of Commerce.
Swift’s opening night in Glendale, Arizona saw 69,000 attendees, breaking previous records of Madonna in 1987 when she performed in front of 63,000 people at Anaheim Stadium in Los Angeles. The tour also set Ticketmaster records, with 3.5 million registrations and over 2 million tickets sold on the first day.
