A bartender’s TikTok video, favoring big-tipping customers, has gone viral.
Roman Sparkles, a TikToker and bartender, shared a video disregarding a customer’s order in favor of a regular who “tips me 50% every time he comes in”.
The video, posted on Monday, has amassed over 1.5 million views, Business Insider reported.
Sparkles’ video triggered a wave of conversations on TikTok about the American tipping culture. Notably, a TikToker named “poorandhungry” shared her experience at a Ben and Jerry’s, where the cashier expressed frustration when she chose not to tip for a $2 ice cream cone.
Another TikToker, Jason Regan, criticized customers who don’t tip, sarcastically suggesting he could “book a flight with the money that you didn’t pay me” to a country where tips aren’t relied upon.
According to a 2023 Forbes survey, Americans tip an average of 16%. However, a recent Bankrate survey revealed that 66% of US adults view tipping negatively.
