An individual on TikTok, known for her resemblance to singer Taylor Swift, has been criticized after staging a prank in LA using fake security, The Daily Dot reported.
Ashley Leechin, dressed similarly to Swift, wandered around LA shopping venues while escorted by men posing as security personnel. The prank led to a swarm of people believing they had encountered the actual singer.
The incident, which Leechin described as a ‘social experiment’ drew flak from Swift’s fans, who perceived it as a mockery of the challenges faced by the renowned singer in her daily life.
In response to the criticism, Leechin stated that her action was a collaboration with YouTuber VicInTheGame and was intended to explore the common practice of celebrities using decoys to distract fans.
Regardless of Leechin’s explanation, her escapade was termed a ‘prank’ by VicInTheGame in a preview video, further stirring up the controversy.
