Billionaire Elon Musk has a word of appreciation for superhero comics.
What Happened: Musk said superhero comics were great examples of strength as a virtue. The Tesla and SpaceX CEO was responding to a user on X (formerly Twitter) who shared an article from The Atlantic and quoted a line from it that read, “If we don't give these boys positive examples of strength as a virtue, they will look elsewhere.”
Musk added that he has told several people from the entertainment industry, including writers, directors and producers, of the importance of having positive examples of strength as a virtue.
“It is incredibly important,” Musk wrote.
The article titled, ‘In praise of heroic masculinity,’ was written by Caitlin Flanagan and pitched heroic masculinity as the opposite of toxic masculinity. Heroic masculinity, Flanagan wrote, expressed the idea of men using their strength to protect rather than dominate.
Musk is himself a father with several children including sons. The CEO has previously said that he is doing his best to help the under population crisis and has reportedly even made donations towards fertility studies.
