Elon Musk Reveals Video Views On X Have 'Roughly Doubled' In Just A Year As CEO Yaccarino Cheers Milestone

Elon Musk recently revealed a significant milestone: video views on X, previously known as Twitter, have doubled since last year.

What Happened: Musk’s announcement came in response to a tweet from X’s CEO, Linda Yaccarino, who celebrated the platform’s growth.

Yaccarino noted that X video views had soared by 90% compared to the previous year, drawing parallels with Formula 1 driver Max Verstappen breaking Sebastian Vettel‘s record with 10 consecutive racing wins on Sunday.

“Records all around: Verstappen. F1. X video views up 90% compared to last year,” she posted.

Why It Matters: This surge in video views aligns with Musk’s vision to transform X into “an everything app,” poised to compete with Mark Zuckerberg-led Meta Platforms Inc META, which has Facebook and Instagram

Videos are crucial in this endeavor, aiming to enhance content creation and consumption on X.

Musk's X was once a niche social media platform but has evolved into a digital juggernaut. The company recently introduced extended video options for premium subscribers, allowing for videos up to two hours in 1080p quality or three hours in 720p. Additionally, paid users can now download videos and manage their download settings.

Apple uploaded the full pilot episode of its hit TV show “Silo” on X, while fired Fox News host Tucker Carlson found has also seemingly managed to create a big audience for himself on the platform.

Looking ahead, X has plans to launch video and audio call features across various devices. Musk highlighted that these calls won’t require phone numbers, emphasizing X’s role as a “global address book.”
