AMC Entertainment Holdings Inc AMC shares are getting a lift in Thursday's after-hours session after the company announced the Taylor Swift Eras Tour concert film has crossed $100 million in ticket sales.
What To Know: AMC said "Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour" has sold more than $100 million in advance tickets worldwide as of Oct. 4. The film is not set to be released until Oct. 13.
When tickets became available in the U.S. at the end of August, AMC said the concert film set a single day record for ticket sales revenue. On Thursday, AMC added that demand has been "incredible from the moment it was first announced" and is widespread across the U.S. "from the largest cities to the smallest towns."
AMC also announced that its sub-distribution partners have confirmed that more than 8,500 theaters across 100 countries are interested in showing the film. The company is working to reach agreements with additional cinema operators across the globe.
Earlier this week, AMC announced that Beyonce's Renaissance World Tour will also be released as a theatrical concert experience, beginning Dec. 1. U.S. tickets went on sale on Monday, starting at $22 each.
