Jared Leto Makes Historic Ascent On Empire State Building To Promote Upcoming World Tour

In an unexpected publicity stunt, Oscar-winner Jared Leto ascended the Empire State Building to generate buzz for his forthcoming world tour.

What Happened: As reported by The Hollywood Reporter, Leto made a daring climb up the Empire State Building to promote his upcoming Seasons World Tour

The actor, known for his roles in “Dallas Buyers Club” and “Suicide Squad, discussed his thrilling yet challenging journey with NBC’s Today show.

He ascended from the 86th to the 104th floor on the building’s east side, reaching a height of nearly 1,300 feet.

The actor was equipped with climbing gear and was secured by ropes for the duration of his climb.

The stunt served dual purposes for Leto – not only was it a tour promotion, but it also marked a personal achievement.

“It’s incredible,” he said. “To watch the sunrise overlooking the city that’s meant so much to me. Ever since I was a kid, New York stood for the place that you went to make your dreams come true.”

“And as a young kid, I wanted to be an artist, and New York was the place that you came to be an artist. And the Empire State Building was always that symbol for me.”

The actor is scheduled to start a world tour with his band, Thirty Seconds to Mars, in March 2024, promoting their sixth studio album.

Why It Matters: This event marks a unique approach to tour promotion in the music industry. According to a Rolling Stone article, Leto’s feat was the first of its kind, combining physical endurance with entertainment marketing.

He also became the first person to scale the iconic New York landmark legally.

This adventurous endeavor has undeniably heightened the anticipation for the upcoming tour, but it remains to be seen how this will impact ticket sales and audience turnout.
