The Department of Defense has rebutted a shocking conspiracy theory linking Taylor Swift to a covert operation, dismissing it as absurd.
What Happened: The Hill reported Wednesday that Fox News host Jesse Watters on Tuesday night suggested that Swift might be a “psyop” for the Pentagon, insinuating that her collaboration with Vote.org was part of a broader information campaign.
The Pentagon’s response was quick. Spokesperson Sabrina Singh dismissed the speculation, stating, “As for this conspiracy theory, we are going to shake it off,” a tongue-in-cheek reference to one of Swift’s hits.
She followed this up by urging Congress to approve the supplemental budget request swiftly.

Vote.org chief Andrea Hailey also refuted the theory, asserting that Swift is not a Pentagon asset but an advocate for young people’s voting rights.
Why It Matters: This wild conspiracy theory is the latest turn in Swift’s journey from being named Time’s Person of the Year in 2023 to being linked to the Pentagon.
Swift has been an outspoken advocate for political issues and significantly influences young voters. Her efforts to encourage young people to vote have been well-documented.
