George R. R. Martin, the renowned author of the Game of Thrones series, has hinted at a possible adaptation of the popular video game Elden Ring into a movie or TV show.

In a recent blog post, Martin, who contributed to the worldbuilding of Elden Ring, wrote about his recent accolades and subtly suggested that an adaptation could be in the works.

“Oh, and about those rumors you may have heard about a feature film or television series based on Elden Ring… I have nothing to say,” Martin stated. “Not a word, nope, not a thing, I know nothing, you never heard a peep from me, mum mum mum. What rumor?”

FromSoftware's Involvement, Collaboration For Elden Ring Adaptation

Elden Ring, developed by FromSoftware and directed by Hidetaka Miyazaki, has been a massive success, selling more than 25 million copies since its release in 2022.

Miyazaki himself has expressed openness to the idea of adapting Elden Ring into another medium, provided the right partner is involved.

“I don't see any reason to deny another interpretation or adaptation of Elden Ring, a movie for example,” Miyazaki said in an interview. “But I don't think myself, or FromSoftware, have the knowledge or ability to produce something in a different medium.”

Miyazaki emphasized the importance of collaboration with a capable partner. “We'd have to build a lot of trust and agreement on whatever it is we're trying to achieve, but there's interest, for sure,” he added.

In parallel to these developments, the recently released Elden Ring DLC, Shadow of the Erdtree, has enjoyed remarkable success, selling five million copies in just three days.
