The 2024 Emmy Award nominations were announced Wednesday with "The Bear" and "Shogun" among the shows with the most nominations. The nominated shows and limited series showed strength once again for streaming platforms.

What Happened: With recent award-winners “Ted Lasso” and “Succession” no longer in contention following the end of their series, the 2024 Emmy nominations feature several new contenders.

Why It's Important: Disney and Netflix could be the big winners with several of their hit series among the most nominated and recognizable names on the list.

Even without "Ted Lasso" to help power things, AppleTV+ scored several nominations from "The Morning Show" and other less recognizable shows. Jennifer Aniston and Reese Witherspoon both received acting nods for "The Morning Show."

"The Bear" won 10 Emmy Awards in the 2023 ceremony as the most awarded show.

HBO and Max received 31 wins in the 2023 award show, but without "Succession" this year, the total will likely be lower.

The 76th Emmy Awards air live on Sunday, Sept. 15 from 8 p.m. ET to 11 p.m. ET on ABC. A host for the award show has not been named to date.
