Taylor Swift released “The Tortured Poets Department” in April, but it keeps returning to the top of the music charts.
According to recent data from Luminate (via Forbes), the album sold 84,000 copies in the U.S. last week. That’s a significant increase from the previous week's sales of just under 12,000 copies. This substantial jump in sales—over 600%—is notable for an album that has been available for several months.
This surge has propelled Universal Music Groups NV’s UMGNF “The Tortured Poets Department” back to the top of Billboard's Top Album Sales chart. It now holds the No. 1 position for the seventh nonconsecutive week.
“Tortured Poets” has consistently been a strong performer on this chart, even as new releases continue to emerge in the competitive music industry.
Part of the album's continued success can be attributed to Swift's strategy of releasing multiple versions of the project, often including exclusive content such as live recordings, voice notes, or demo tracks.
These editions, typically available for a limited time on her website, have proven popular among fans and have helped sustain the album's sales over time.
In addition to its sales performance, “The Tortured Poets Department” continues to do well on the Billboard 200, where it remains a dominant presence.
The album has now spent a total of 14 nonconsecutive weeks at No. 1 on this chart, moving 142,000 equivalent units in the latest tracking week, with more than half of those being traditional album sales.
