Websites such as Airbnb, Inc ABNB have allowed many homeowners to increase their wealth by renting out properties they own or even their own dwellings for periods of time, creating an avenue for extra, passive income.
In today's world, there are online platforms for almost any conceivable activity, enabling individuals to leverage their existing skills and possessions to generate additional income through a side hustle, according to CNBC.
For those with an entrepreneurial spirit, these side hustles can sometimes generate a lot of income without a substantial investment of time. In 2020, one such entrepreneur named Ryan Hogue was able to retire from his full-time job after finding success selling t-shirts on Amazon, where he now banks about $175,000 per year.
Whereas Hogue generates income from his ability to find images for t-shirts that people want to wear, other entrepreneurs are making money using things they already own, according to CNBC. The outlet talked to several users on various side-hustle-focused platforms.

Jim Battan rents out his swimming pool using the platform Swimply to generate income, although it isn’t passive income because he and his wife split a 12-14 hour work week on the business. The pool originally cost Battan $110,000 and within the first two years of renting it out, he brought in almost $200,000, according to the report.
In March 2020, Rick Powell turned his love of dogs into a side business by turning his 5-acre backyard in Oregon into a dog park. Powell uses the website Sniffspot to advertise and he, his wife and daughter work five to 10 hours per week to earn up to $4,100 per month.
