After her brother died, 21-year-old Inayah McMillan, changed her perspective. She was just 16 at the time and like many other Gen Z’s are doing, she decided to find a path to take more control of her life by becoming an entrepreneur.
In her freshman year of college, while working two full-time jobs, McMillan decided to drop out. She didn’t believe her education was providing her with what she needed to be successful in the way she wanted to progress.
“All you’re doing is giving power to someone else to tell you how valuable you are, or to tell you how qualified you are. I didn’t need someone else telling me if I was worth doing a job or not,” McMillan said in a YouTube video.
How McMillan Became A Millionaire: Just before dropping out of college, McMillan got a job working for a “high profile” family as a nanny. That’s when she started asking herself, “Would I rather learn from a professor? Or would I rather learn from a billionaire who has the lifestyle that I want?”
At the end of her freshman year, she decided to drop out and become an entrepreneur. “I was listening to these tapes and they said people who are successful make decisions quickly and they stick to those decisions,” McMillan said in the video.
McMillan decided she needed to find her way as an entrepreneur: “I started reading books. I started watching YouTube videos."

After trying her hand at trading stock options, e-commerce and drop shipping, McMillan entered into the business of renting Airbnbs. “I started off by renting. I actually didn’t own any properties. I now have 11 Airbnbs that I rent,” the St. Louis, Missourian said, which was also reported by the New York Post.
McMillan then learned, through experience, how to do rental arbitrage and her business started to bring in five figures per month. “Everyone started seeing this 20-year-old girl is making five figures a month, $40,000, $50,000, $60,000 a month from Airbnb,” she said.
But she didn’t stop there. “Me and my partner, we decided to create a coaching business,” she said, offering advice to other entrepreneurs who wanted to learn the business of renting Airbnbs.
In June 2022, McMillan and her partner made $100,000 from the businesses and in October, they made their first $1 million, according to the entrepreneur.
In total, McMillan and her partner brought in $3 million last year, she said in the video. “You have to have a positive mindset if you want to attract positive things,” she said.
