The much-awaited arrival of The Last of Us Part 1 on PC has been marred by performance issues and crashes, leading to a wave of negative reviews on Valve's Steam.

Many PC gamers have been left frustrated by the lackluster experience, with some citing crashes occurring every 20 minutes.

Despite the game's impressive graphics, players have lamented the poor optimization of the title, urging developers to address the issues quickly.

Sony Group Corp.'s SONY Naughty Dog, the studio behind the game, acknowledged the problems and is currently investigating the reports of technical difficulties.

"The Last of Us Part I PC players: we've heard your concerns, and our team is actively investigating multiple issues you've reported. We will continue to update you, but our team is prioritizing updates and will address issues in upcoming patches," Naughty Dog's official account tweeted.

One of the primary concerns among users is the extended duration of shader compiling, especially on PCs that barely meet the game's requirements. Gamers are also encountering issues across various configurations and are saying that the game has not been well-optimized.

Right now, the title has 11,842 reviews, of which 7,958 (around 67%) are negative and only 3,884 (32%) are positive. The game retails at ‎$59.99.

"PC gamers don't deserve this game. Should have remained [PlayStation] exclusive," one user reviewed on Steam.

“I waited for almost 2.5 hours for the game to build shaders while crashing in the main menu every five or so minutes, [it's] one of the most frustrating experiences I've had with a game. To clarify, if the game didn't crash every five mins while in the main menu, it would've taken half the time to build the shaders and actually start playing,” another review said, as per IGN.
