Insider Gaming just confirmed a new PlayStation handheld is in development. Code-named the Q Lite, this next-generation console is the latest piece of Sony Group Corp. SONY hardware paired with the PlayStation 5, instead of being a standalone device.
Unlike some previous handheld devices, the Q Lite is not a cloud-streaming device. It uses Remote Play with the PlayStation 5, a feature Sony had been heavily promoting in recent weeks. This means the Q Lite will require a constant internet connection to function.

One of the standout features of the Q Lite is its adaptive streaming, which can deliver up to 1080p and 60FPS. As for physical features, early prototypes showed it looked like a PlayStation 5 controller, but with a large 8-inch LCD touchscreen in the center. The device also included adaptive triggers for haptic feedback, volume buttons, speakers, an audio input jack and other features.
Insider Gaming learned the Q Lite is currently in the quality assurance phase and scheduled to be released before the PlayStation 5 Pro (which is aiming for a holiday 2024 release), but after the Detachable Disc Drive PS5.
