  • PS5 gets discounted in UK, Ireland, Germany, Austria, India (£404.99/€474.99 off).
  • No U.S. discount has been announced yet.

During PlayStation's Summer Sale, Sony Group Corp's SONY PlayStation 5 console is now offered at a discounted price for the first time in the UK, Ireland, Germany, Austria, and India.

The console's prices have been slashed to £404.99 (a reduction of £75) in the UK and Ireland, and to €474.99 (a reduction of €75) in Germany and Austria, according to Polygon.

The discount comes amid rumors of a "slim" version of the PS5 being planned for release, with Microsoft Corp. MSFT claiming during the Federal Trade Commission trial that the new version of the console will cost around $399.99.

Moreover, Sony recently announced that the PS5 has been a massive success, selling over 40 million units as of July 16, 2023, though it slightly trails the sales pace of the PS4 due to the previous semiconductor shortage. While the PS4 took 30 months to reach this milestone, the PS5 accomplished this feat in 32 months.

As of now, there is no information regarding a discount in the U.S., but it is expected that it will likely be offered sooner or later.

In addition to the console discount, there are various deals on PlayStation games, DualSense Controllers, and PS5-compatible SSDs, including the Spider-Man 2 PS5 bundle and accessory preorders.
