Sony Group Corp. SONY announced a global price increase for its PlayStation Plus 12-month subscriptions across all tiers.

Starting from Sept. 6, the prices for PlayStation Plus Essential, PlayStation Plus Extra and PlayStation Plus Premium will be raised. The new prices will be as follows:

  • PlayStation Plus Essential 12-Month Subscription: $79.99 / £59.99 / €71.99
  • PlayStation Plus Extra 12-Month Subscription: $134.99 / £99.99 / €125.99
  • PlayStation Plus Premium 12-Month Subscription: $159.99 / £119.99 / €151.99

Sony justified the price hike by stating that it would allow them to continue providing "high-quality games and value-added benefits" to subscribers.

The new prices will still offer a discount compared to buying one-month or three-month subscriptions over a 12-month period.

For existing 12-month subscribers, the price increase will take effect on their next renewal date occurring on or after Nov. 6. Any changes to membership made on or after Sept. 6, such as upgrades, downgrades or additional purchases, will reflect the new prices.

This price adjustment follows a similar move by Microsoft Corp MSFT, which raised the prices of Xbox Game Pass just before the release of the Starfield.

The announcement coincides with the unveiling of the PlayStation Plus Monthly Games for September.
