PC players have expressed numerous complaints, including the game's failure to match the quality of the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S versions, rampant cheating and a lack of cross-play in key modes.

Furthermore, the game has faced criticism for aggressive microtransactions, which some players consider worse than ever before.

"NBA 2K24 continues the unfortunate trend of offering little innovation while perpetuating inequality and mistreatment towards PC and Steam players. The prevalence of bugs and server issues only adds insult to injury," user Big Jack wrote.

The Steam community backlash has been so severe that NBA 2K24 currently holds the second spot on Steam250's Hall of Shame, a list of the 100 worst Steam games based on user reviews, trailing behind only Blizzard's Overwatch 2.

At the moment of writing, 89% of the game's 3,640 reviews were negative.
