Epic Games is taking a significant step to enhance player safety in its widely popular game, "Fortnite." Starting on Nov. 14, the company will implement age ratings for all Fortnite content, including user-generated content in Creative mode.
This move is the result of a partnership between Epic Games and the International Age Rating Coalition (IARC), an organization that collaborates with various rating boards, including the Entertainment Software Rating Board (ESRB), IGN reported.

Under this new system, creators wishing to publish their custom islands in Fortnite will be required to complete an IARC content rating questionnaire. Subsequently, Epic Games moderators will review and assign an age-based rating to the content.
Notably, these age ratings will be region-specific, granting participating rating boards the authority to make adjustments to the assigned ratings after the content has been made available to players.
This development comes amid challenging times for Epic Games, following its recent announcement of significant layoffs affecting approximately 16 percent of its workforce, amounting to 830 employees.
"I had long been optimistic that we could power through this transition without layoffs, but in retrospect, I see that this was unrealistic," CEO Tim Sweeney wrote in a memo published on Sept. 28. "We concluded that layoffs are the only way and that doing them now and on this scale will stabilize our finances."
