The game "Lethal Company" has achieved a significant milestone by attracting more than 100,000 concurrent players on Valve's Steam gaming platform.
Developed by Zeekerss, this cooperative horror game revolves around scavenging abandoned moons and has garnered substantial attention since its launch in Steam Early Access on Oct. 23, IGN reported.
Zeekerss took to social media to express gratitude for the milestone, stating on X: "While I was asleep, Lethal Company passed 100,000 concurrent players. Unbelievable, thank you for playing. Releasing updates for this game will be very fun."
The game's popularity saw a gradual increase before experiencing a notable surge last week. Starting at a peak of 47,933 players on November 14, the player count escalated daily, spiking from 60,838 on November 17 to 88,751 the following day.
Eventually, on Nov. 19, the game crossed the 100,000 mark, reaching an all-time high of 115,050 on Nov. 20.
Receiving an "Overwhelmingly Positive" rating on Steam, "Lethal Company" has gained favor among users. One Reddit user, Froegerer, commented: "Haven't laughed so hard in any game basically ever. Decent game loop after the initial novelty wears off also. Creator updates almost bi-weekly with new mobs and items. Really fun game."
Players assume the role of contracted workers gathering scrap to meet corporate quotas in "Lethal Company," which offers features such as suit customization, ship decoration, and cataloging of creatures.
Despite its horror-themed premise, players have appreciated the engaging gameplay mechanics.
Zeekerss, acknowledging the game's Early Access status, highlighted ongoing improvements and sought player feedback to refine difficulty and balance.
"Lethal Company is 'finished' but still far from realizing its potential," the developer noted on the Steam page, emphasizing the game's continuous development.
